virtue signaling is much easier. All you need to say is that A is bad and we need to fight it, and/or B is good and we need to promote it.. Truth seeking is much harder, and sometimes even impossible. Also, you don't necessary need truth, but you need many perspectives of an issue, and pick the ones that best correlate with what you observe.
