Propose how you'd fix the Bucks in order to retain Giannis. I'll share my plan later tonight!
Move Bucks to Las Vega$ or the biggest city possible— Mexico City? London? Madrid!!! NBA doesn’t favor doing anything that helps GFreak stay in tiny Milwaukee. As in: winning Chip this year. I predict that when Giannis moves to a big city (LA, Miami, Boston, Chicago etc...) he will win like Jordan (A Davis, Shaq). Going WITH the wind has huge advantages.

I think Giannis is a Kareem type dude. Smart, kind, great athlete, great professional... just that he needs al alpha dog to carry the load and be on the spotlight. He needs his Magic Johnson. His MJ. I agree with RJ when he said Giannis might be a Pippen. I thought I was alone on that one.
john replied:
Always thought: No Pippen, and MJ is just a well-known dunker from the 90s-era. Pippen doesn't get nearly enough credit, I suspect he held Michael's feet to the fire, as in "You don't play defense, the your offense is just flashy bullshit". And I think MJ had similar effect on Pippen. "you just a defensive player, you sell yourself short as a basketball player". amazingly, pre-Pippen Jordan had as much success in the playoffs (damn near same record) as ex-MJ Pippen had. They were brothers. Never thought Pippen got enough credit, and part of it is him not being as flashy and marketable. MJ 6, Pippen 6. Niether could get over the hump without the other. Still think Milwaukee is probably the best team in the east this year, and that NBA is looking to promote a patsy in the East for LeBron to roll over. I'm going to laugh pretty hard if Miami overcomes the odds and sticks it to both LeBron AND the league. Will be a VERY tall task tho. NBA might have to pull 2016 Draymond shenanigans, and ban Bam or Dragic or Herro for a few games.
My plan, the "Last Hope" for keeping Giannis: Get Chris Paul and Bradley Beal, trade away everything except for Giannis. It's not very elaborate but that's my plan. You can and should overpay for Bradley Beal, plus Washington would be glad to get rid of them. Probably no other team can offer more than Middleton + picks + a couple of youngsters if needed for him. Chris Paul has a crazy high contract no other team will dare touch, even after his MVP caliber season. Only... maybe... the Lakers. And it's a pretty big maybe, because althought the lakers would get him in a heartbeat... what can they give for him? THT+Kuz+Danny Green's contract + picks? well not that bad tbh.
apagut replied:
CP3 can lead the team so Giannis can remain silent as he likes. Bradley Beal is a tough competitor, skilled as hell. Giannis could be the next Kareem if they stop trying to play him PG. Perfect synergy, they come out of the East finally. Of course this can only work with another coach other than Budenholzer... Mark Jackson? Ty Lue?

Milwaukee needs to become a bigger market. That's the only way.

This wasn't an issue for the Spurs, and they also had a guy who never had an issue by staying on a small market team.
danlazo replied:
Elite coaching and organization can make up for lack of market size. Duncan was a rare legend-level player. He didn't want the bright lights and media like most elite players. Can Giannis be a new Duncan? We'll see.
