Meig's Field airfield in downtown Chicago was controversially closed in 2003 for a number of reasons, one of them cited by Mayor Daley at the time:
"... safety concerns required the closure, due to the post-September 11 risk of terrorist-controlled aircraft attacking the downtown waterfront near Meigs Field."
Authoritarians love to control people through fear and "Für Ihre Sicherheit" (for your safety). Resist this.
