Could Powping be a nano service? I'm not sure if unwriter has other plans for monetisation but every tip on the platform could send a couple of hundred satoshis to powping for site maintenance and/or profit. It would barely affect the tip amount but could collectively turn into a decent revenue stream. Just throwing out ideas...

Ted Nelson's Xanadu project seems to be on your wavelength. Micropayment, innovations and perspectives. Could be boosted with blockchainized or nft-ized correlation.

I agree there are similarities. Perhaps with the poem too. On nano payments, as long as it would 'barely affect the tip amount' I'm ok with it.
I enjoyed your article on nano services, I think it will open up a lot of opportunities that have been previously considered "it will happen someday...". There are so many use cases. As for Powping, yes you're right that's possible. In fact that would be the most straightforward model which can be implemented even right now. The reason we're not implementing a business model today is because I already know this is possible, but at the same time don't want to lock Powping into a single business model at this stage. Looking at the Internet history, many once-successful companies failed or became irrelevant (see yahoo) because their initial business model which made them successful early on turned out to be their biggest liability in moving forward with even more innovative business models that are more much more lucrative. Another reason is that, at this stage I want Powping users to take every single cent they earn from the application. At scale it will make sense for the service provider to take a cut because they are actually creating enough value for the users, but at this small scale I don't believe the value is great enough. People should realize that, with Bitcoin anything is monetizable as long as you build everything bitcoin native and focus on creating value instead of extracting value.

i agree
sounds like a good idea
I read your article about nano services yesterday and trying to make sure I understand the definition correctly. Is it a nano service if an app takes less than dust limit? so like, if Powping takes 100sats per tip, its a nano service but if it takes 1000 sats it's not a nano service? Thanks in advance.
shadders replied:
I don't think there's any hard definition just like there's no defined thresholds for micropayments... The point of differentiating them is they are below the threshold where that size payment as a single standalone micropayment would make economic sense.

Moneystream can now do split payouts, to split the revenue stream between platform and content creator. I will add to documentation. Use meta tag to split by percentage. Something like this: <meta name="monetization" content="[{to:'platformpaymail', percent:20 },{to: 'contentcreatorpaymail', percent:80 }]" />

How nano of a service is easily achievable now?

For now it's still limited by the dust limit although in this release it was made a function of the relay fee intead of having a hard coded floor. That dropped it from 546 sats to 136. I'd use 140 to be on the safe side. We hope to get rid of the dust limit completely by end of year.

just like any fee for a service...
What is most interesting is that it *is possible* and, if it is a really good revenue stream, someone will take the opportunity. That's the power of economic incentives. One of the biggest innovations of bitcoin is that it removes barriers for creating economic incentives for almost anything.
Was thinking about this exact thing yesterday after I received some payments that looked like dust (?)... I agree, this seems a very nice way to go.
adonsats replied:
agree with you... I see some MB at 800 sats.
