It would achieve nothing because its simply not feasible for enough nodes to be running unless scale is hamstrung. Its not economic either for enough hash power to be sitting in reserve and even if it was it doesn't need all user running nodes to deploy that hash power. You'd need a few new pools at best. Spv clients which will be by far the majority, will simply follow the longest chain. This is what Luke is afraid of. This what user power really means, it acts to reinforce the longest chain b

"Lastly, what happens when people try to store long term storage things in a 0-value token or unspendable, and only need to access them once a year or less-- like grandma's home movie collection?" They still have to pay a fee to create the output in the first place so I don't think this will happen frivously. The first reaction I hear to the concept of 0-value outputs is "unbounded UTXO size!" but in reality it is bounded by economics which is an elastic bound. A few will slip through the net

"Will Nodes be allowed to create their own private dust limits? Will they always have control over whether they allow 0-value tokens or not? " Yes they will. Nodes can choose not to mine any transactions for whatever reason they want. What the software does by default is a different story. This is the difference between policy and consensus. If a transaction follows consensus rules you are free not to mine it because it doesn't meet your policy rules, but if someone else does and you don't ac

Default tip would be nice (configurable). Also the ability to tip a post without opening it from the main feed. A lot of posts are fully visible in the feed and some that are like worthy but have no comments would get more attention, possibly from people that would comment but don't see it, if they started getting tips... Opening a post just to tip it is an extra bit of friction that could be removed... Combined with the default tip this could be a one click experience.

Could Powping be a nano service? I'm not sure if unwriter has other plans for monetisation but every tip on the platform could send a couple of hundred satoshis to powping for site maintenance and/or profit. It would barely affect the tip amount but could collectively turn into a decent revenue stream. Just throwing out ideas...

There's a list of deliverables near the end of this post. The only one we haven't done yet is hardware accelerated signature validation. I did a prototype sig server just using CPU validation to measure throughput and it turned out the cost of doing it on commodity cloud hardware was trivial in comparison to other costs so it likely won't have an economic driver for a lot longer than I originally thought.

Shower thought: All wallets should have a seperate emergency wallet available by default with the seeds stored seperately (perhaps even with a 3rd party service). If you have any reason to believe your wallet is compromised the UI should provide a quick way to sweep into the emergency wallet. It could be a single sweep tx or on tx per UTXO to avoid loss of privacy. @electrumsv What you think?

Ownership to me implies control of a thing. Which, more specifically resolves to the power choose the conditions under which others might be able to use the thing. Owning a property allows you deny access to it to others. Or to allow access to certain people. By implication no one else's use of the thing can interfere with your own free and unfettered use of the thing since you can prevent their use of it at any time.

SPV is useful for proving a payment. "Hey I payed you yesterday, here's the proof". In a zero-conf context it can add some assurance in proving that the payer has a real identity anchored in past economic activity on the blockchain. The transaction they give essentially become a digitally signed confession to fraud if they double spend you. That signature isn't worth much if it's signing an output from a fake transaction with no actual history behind it. But if it's attached to paymail identi

PoW as costly signal is no different from... errr... "a costly signal" from the signal interpreters point of view. If I receive a message that someone has burnt $10 on PoW to send it to me I'm more likely to read it than one that was free to send. But if they burnt $10 on extra transaction fees or sent $10 to a known charity the signal is identical from my point of view. They have $10 worth of incentive to want me to pay attention. It only becomes different when the $10 goes to the reader as an
