Kind of amazing how quickly and easily the wind was sucked out of the whole movement. Delete a few Twitter accounts and charge a few people, a week later there is no 1776 left in them.

The streets above 14th are a grid, with Broadway (a former farmer’s path) meandering across somewhat diagonally. It makes for some oddly sliver shaped real estate like this plot the Flatiron building is built on.

“Skating” in Bryant Park yesterday, in 22 degree weather. Celsius! The ice is some kind of plastic material that doesn’t slice or scratch.

Central Park earlier in the week. Fall is on the way and the leaves are rapidly changing. In the background are the San Remo apartments. Steve Jobs owned one of the penthouse apts there but never lived in it. He ended up selling it to Bono.

The sun sets on the Intrepid docked on the Hudson. This aircraft carrier was built for WWII and survived numerous kamikaze attacks. Decommissioned in the 70s and has been a museum since the 80s.

Rosario’s pizza on the Lower East Side, one of my fave in the city. The owner was there every time I stopped in, day or night. slice crust was airy, crispy, thick and fluffy, basically the opposite of the usual nyc slice, but it was so perfectly formed I always wondered where he learned how to make it that way. Stopped by in the rain today, apparently the place didn’t survive COVID.

Rockefeller center, today around noon. I live that this guy in the front is on the telephone, when this sculpture was made the rotary phone was probably the height of modern tech

Dining just off Park Avenue. It’s strange to see upscale, fine dining out on the street, but it is happening everywhere and somehow still looks pretty refined despite the fact that NYC street life (and punks like me) are just inches away.
